I was attracted to the Shih Tzu breed because of their intelligence as well as their calm sweet nature. After living with them for a while, I decided to begin breeding and started researching the breed while looking for unusual breeding adults.  I was delighted to find several of the “rare” colors for the breed… a liver /white, a silver and also the more common gold/cream and black/white.

With this bevy of beauties, I started my breeding program. Learning more about the breed as time went along as I became immersed in their lives. Every day was (and is) full of surprises as my lovable family grew.  By the way, I’m not a gambler and don’t play Poker!  Ya know that picture where the pups are sitting at a roundtable playing Poker and passing the ace underneath the table…well, the name Ace of Pups was born from that.

My angels (dogs) all run free in a shaded, clean yard and roam in my home where I section off different areas for them. I only crate them when I have to leave the house and at bedtimes.

They socialize with other Shih Tzu, older and younger than themselves. Food and clean water are always available and shelter is available through their “puppy doors” whenever they want it.

While my angels roam the house they are picked up and cuddled & shown affection throughout the day and evening. I wouldn’t know what to do without being able to watch the antics of these comical angels and being able to play with them. I love feeling like the pied piper…whichever room I go into they seem to be at my ankles within moments. I’m obviously doing what I love!

All my pups are Veterinarian inspected and receive their shots as prescribed. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions regarding the breed and take a look at my “Shih Tzu 4 Sale” pages to see what I have available from time to time.

I have recently married and my husband joins me 100% in raising these precious angels with me. His name is Henri Gibson. You can see our pictures together with some of our wonderful Shih Tzu puppies.

How Ace of Pups Came About

With the real estate market closing a door of my life, I had to choose another career.  We’ve all heard “do what you love”,  well, I had contemplated becoming a Shih Tzu breeder for a few years.   Another door was about to open in my life!

Luckily, I had sold my former home before the market fell completely. With that, I relocated to Beverly Hills, Florida. My hesitation didn’t last long as I decided to invest in my newest career decision.    DOING WHAT I LOVE.

With the spirit of Luck on my side,  I started thinking of a theme for my breeding business.    Feeling Lucky I adopted the Poker game as my theme.  Now my breeders and their litters are named after Casinos and Poker games.

As I started acquiring my angels I wanted to first raise them as 8-week old babies while watching and enjoying them as they grew.  This way I would “learn by doing”!   And that I did!  Each of my babies were named with my theme in mind.

When a new litter comes I rampage thru the poker dictionaries & lists of Poker terms & Casinos.  In the Veterinarian’s office, I spotted the photos of dogs playing poker.  I got online and found the artist and bought all his prints on different settings of dogs playing poker.

The Shih Tzu, being known as the calmest and sweetest dog, became, in my mind, the “ACE of PUPS”!!!   Thus, my breeders and their babies get dubbed a poker term!   Sometimes I vary, if a baby just looks like something or is being funny, I’ll dub it a nickname like Socks for the white paws, etc.

So with Gambler, Reno, River, Queen, Bluff, Texas, Rainbow, Kitty, Lady, Glory, Star, Casino, Winner, Coffee Cup, Muppet, Ace, Poker, Gypsy, Chips and Dealer,  I’ve become quite a dictionary on terms.   Adding some of my kept girls to my breeder list is a well thought out process.  Looking for conformity true to the Shih Tzu stature and temperament I have selected another bevy of beauties to offer the sweetest Shih Tzu puppies for you to love.

Take a look at my breeder’s to see how wonderful they are!

Truly, I “Raise” Hearts & Diamonds, Kings & Queens, some are Jokers & some are a little Wild, but they all steal  Hearts!!

How the Baby names are chosen

When the puppies are born, we have to call them Something!
Since their personalities are apparent almost right away, we give them their temporary name, until their new owners find the correct choice.
These Ace of Pups names are a starting point and we use whichever one seems to fit the pup.
